TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Our investigative reporter has uncovered a sad event of total ignorance and arrogance of Blantyre City Council’s by-laws: THE FIGHT AGAINST CARBON EMISSIONS IN THE CITY.

A Malawian of Indian origin Mr Kumar Kabir is running fraudulent activities of open burning of plastic bottles in a residential area of Mapanga in Blantyre.
The exact place is the industrial area side close to Good Samaritan Children’s Home.
This is a pure case of air pollution and be it a residential area, where children play freely in the streets and they’re inhaling toxic fumes, which may affect their health .
The reporter spoke to a resident and this is what she said ” You know it is really disheartening,As the country is striving to reduce air pollution which is a prime cause of climate change, among others. The govt recently introduced carbon tax on imported vehicles and meanwhile someone is openly and unconsciously disobeying the by-laws”.
Current Affairs Malawi Media Team, wishes to remind the Ceo Alfred Chanza at Blantyre City Council what President Mutharika shared at Last UNGA SUMMIT;these were his words “I’ts consequences are real, devastating and often tragic and urged all relevant actors to fight for the bending of the curve of carbon dioxide emissions by 2020”.
With these few words,we are hoping to see drastic measures being implemeted .
