Malawi boasts of many businesses. Businesses that range from Agribusiness to Technology, construction to hardware, some are even in service delivery only.

These businesses are manned by locals, foreigners and locals of foreign origin. However today i would like to talk about LMD Trading House. This business is owned by a Malawian of Asian origin, Mr Zikar Mussa.

The Conglomerate has been running for 51 years in Malawi.

I had liberty of interacting with him. The following is what i learned;

LMD Trading House was established in 1960 and was Incorporated in 1969. It deals with all type of merchandise. Besides running a successful business, the Mussa family is also actively doing charity work under Moosa Trust Foundation.

Among the properties owned by Lmd Trading House is the Moosa’s Mart in Lilongwe.

The foundation is run by his two daughters with the help of a board of directors. The board of directors includes;

Faizal Abubakar, Akil Ghumra, Razina Mussa and Sahina Mussa.

Before becoming part of the foundation, Faizal and Akil were already involved into various social and charity work for a very long time.

The foundation core objective is to help most vulnerable and need people,regardless of their religion,tribe or race.

This month,the foundation started to distribute food packs to the hospitals;Balaka, Salima, Mponela, Namitete around Lilongwe to the poor locations, and they are to visit more places Almighty Allah willingly.

Hundreds of mix packs of food are being distributed all over and almost on daily basis.

This foundation is on-going and it’s not for this holy month of Ramadhan but it will continue as long as Almighty Allah decides and allows as the wealth is from the Almighty Allah and humans are only the custodians.

The Foundation believes in philanthropy,being brother’s keeper and they’re only doing it for the blessings of Almighty Allah and as he is the only one who deserve the glory.

The Mussa family originated from Zomba,they stayed in Mzimba for few years before settling in Lilongwe.

Mr Zikar Mussa:owner of Lmd Trading House and founder of Moosa Foundation.

“To be honest all Malawians deserve the gift and care of Almighty Allah as only him has the will, the Power and the strength to give to all of us to endure any difficulties and challenges life may present us,Malawi is a beautiful and blessed nation.I feel we are the most friendly,loving and caring people by far in the world.” echoed Mr Mussa

Board of Directors;Akil and Faizal are trusted and reliable strong pillars in executing charitable activities alongside his two daughters.

The two patriots have given it all to serve and save Malawians under the Moosa foundation,without them,it could have been difficult to achieve anything,the work of distributing the relief items countrywide is challenging and tiring but through their coordination and cooperation has made the benevolence work simple and easier.Thousands upon thousands of needy Malawians are been assisted and empowered during this Covid-19 world disaster on daily basis.

Most Malawians in urban areas can barely afford a proper meal,not to talk of those in rural areas,the less privileged,persons of disabilities,the elderly,the widows,widowers and many other vulnerable people.

The foundation is helping and feeding such people through groceries parcels that can feed 5 people for 15 days,a parcel costs K8,950.

Mr Mussa’s story is legendary and it is among those beautiful tales to preserve and tell the unborn generations.

A man who sacrificed it all to feed a brother,a sister and an orphan in the streets and continues to do so till Almighty God calls him.

A cheerful giver who takes time to visit patients in the hospital with love and a parcel of daily essentials.

The man who is sharing his God given fortune to those who have none.

Let this story encourage and challenge you to look around and help someone with a hot meal or preventative and protective items against Covid-19.

It is really hard out there but collectively,we will triumph by Almighty Allah’s grace.

If there is anyone who wants to offer/donate food to needy and hungry Malawians,and you have no means to distribute.

You may wish to contact the responsible persons at Moosa Trust foundation and they will handle the distribution for free and on your behalf. As they have a readily available team and logistics to handle the distributions of relief materials.
