An angry mob at Milala Trading Centre in Nsalu in Lilongwe has burnt to ashes a man they suspected to have stolen four goats.

The alleged thief, Yohane Kamcheza, aged 20, was killed Tuesday morning after his accomplice brother escaped.

Kamcheza allegedly stole the goats from Boyson Maliyasi at Mjemu village under Traditional Authority Kabudula.

He slaughtered the livestock and transported the carcass on his bicycle.

When he got to Milala his bike reportedly broke down and he decided to have it repaired.

Some people noticed that a sack on his bicycle was oozing blood and they queried him what it was all about.

Kamcheza, however, bolted from the scene but he was quickly apprehended and burnt to death.

Police arrived and took his remains to Nsalu Health Centre pending for a postmortem.

He was from Mwase village under Traditional Authority Kabudula in Lilongwe.

Meanwhile police in the district are warning the public against taking the laws into their own hands.
