The running mate to the United Democratic Front (UDF) presidential candidate in the nullified 2019 presidential election, Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo has distanced himself from the newly formed UDF/DPP alliance.
In a closed interview with our publication, Mwenifumbo said, his relationship with the UDF was strictly as a running mate to Hon. Atupele Muluzi which ended just after the nullified presidential election.
Mwenifumbo further said he is a bonafide member of the Alliance for Democracy (Aford) which he said is in the rebuilding process.
“My relationship with the UDF was just purely on that 2019 presidential election in which i was the running mate to honourable Muluzi, but as of now am concentrating on the rebuilding of our party, Aford,
“I am talking on daily basis with our party president, Enoch Chihana who is in South Africa, I made consultations and found that people in my home area, Karonga they dont like DPP and its ideologies. Our president Chihana enjoys a great relationship arleady with President Chilima of Utm,we believe Utm and Aford have the same dreams, goals and ideologies.,” Mwenefumbo said
On Tuesday morning, UDF and DPP announced their electoral alliance at a functions held in Banana Room of the New State House in Lilongwe, which is said to be focusing on their working relationship beyond the 2020 presidential election.
