Fiscal police interrogates former President Mutharika!

Police have this afternoon quizzed the former president,His Excellency Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika at his holiday home in Mangochi.

Mutharika was interrogated regarding to his presidential benefits,in which his Taxpayers Identification Number was used to purchase 1.2 Million bags of cement duty free in a period of two years(2018-2020) worthy K8 Billion allegedly.

End June,Mutharika moved in.

Our investigative reporter was informed,the police officers were led by the head of Criminal Investigations Department(CID) Deputy Commissioner of Police Bob Mtekama.

It must be noted,the scandal was in public domain few months ago and then president’s publicity Secretary Mr Mgeme Kalirani defended the move saying “he was within his rights to buy the cement duty free.”

Strangely, few days ago the former president using his current personal secretary Linda Salanjira, denied and refuted any knowledge of him sending or authorizing anyone to buy bags of cement on his behalf.

Cement Saga as it is called now,has attracted massive public attention.

So far,several people who were linked to this case have been interrogated and arrested,such as;

The head of his security personnel Mr Norman Paulos Chisale was picked few weeks ago and he is still in prison pending bail.He served as the buyer of the cement.

The former Deputy Commissioner of Mra Mrs Roza Fatchi Mbilizi was also arrested,now on bail.She facilitated paper work at Mra.

Hundreds of Bicycles leftovers from 2019 campaign period.

The former director of state residences Mr Peter Mukhito was summoned yesterday to record a statement and was later left Scot free pending police’s report.He facilitated paper work at Statehouse on behalf of the former president.
