Malawi is a country that has a lot of aspiring business community and well established business community. Like any other country,it has it’s own stories to tell aligned with political affiliations and indifferences.

The majority of Malawians see or conclude about others by attaching their identity or successful stories to a certain group of tribe or race or political party.

Honestly,i find this wanting and biased. It’s not all who have made it in Malawi due to their political connections or tribal lines or race.

It is all about hardwork, determination and courage, most importantly putting God first in all endeavors.

Muli Brothers Limited,an entity which was founded a decade ago by Late tycoon Lacton Mulli. It employs more than 2,000 Malawians countrywide. The company started off as agro dealer then later logistics with extensions in pharmaceuticals, food products, real estate and telecommunications.

Sons of late Tycoon Lacton Mulli at their father’s tombstone.

The company has survived the reign of Former President Dr Bakili Muluzi,Former President Later Ngwazi Dr Bingu wa Mutharika,Former President Dr Joyce Banda and currently still operating under the rule of His Excellency Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika. A span of more than 30 years in serving and saving Malawians.

The current Chief Executive officer Leston Mulli(Captain G) took over after the death of the company’s pioneer.

In 2011,the two entities under the conglomerate were ransacked, goods looted and building structures burnt by demonstrators.Total catastrophic site it was.

The companies were Sunrise Pharmaceuticals and Chombe Food Limited. Both offer employment to more than 500 Malawians, who feed their families, pay house rentals and send their children to school, out of their monthly salaries.

Goods and properties worth billions were completely destroyed due to the inability of Malawi Govt to resolve issues amicably with then demostrators. MBL is not a Government institution. But due to the fault of Government for failing to protect citizen’s properties of value and being the atom of contention during the fracas, that led to business losses, billions lost, employment loss, profit loss and emotional tremor/dilemma.

Some of Chombe products.

Our constitution allows anyone to sue or lay legal charges against any person or institution or Malawi Govt, whenever they feel offended or mistreated or unfairly affected due to a private or public act done by the accused.

Hundreds of Hundreds of youths are empowered and employed by Chombe Products Limited.

MBL filed for compensation from Malawi Government for their loss in profits, business, properties and many other. As a big company, it has a lot of debts to defray from different banks. The company took billions in loans to start up the two businesses which were carelessly and selfishly targeted by protesters.

The calculated loss was valued at K20 Billion in 2011,but the Government of Malawi negotiated for a discount of K5 Billion.

And only K3 Billion was paid, remaining K12 Billion to go.

I as a citizen of Malawi and considering the fact, how these two companies are instrumental to the progress of the nation and most importantly to common Malawians who make endsmeet through them.

It’s only fair and sensible to preserve such companies.

May Malawi Government pay the compensation as soon as possible.

MBL is a Malawian owned company and we cannot allow politics or hatred or tribal lines to destroy such a good Malawian story to tell.

May God bless Malawi.

Stay Home,Stay safe.

Covid-19 is real.
