Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, Kondwani Nankhumwa, MP, who is also Vice President of ruling DPP in the South on 17th January 2020 met the Strategic Advisor for Food and Land Use Coalition Ann Tutwiler, on the need for policy action coalition initiative aimed at maximizing food and land use in the world.
The Food and Land Use Coalition sought the Ministers’ audience to discuss some of the agricultural challenges that are being faced by Malawi and look at ways of improving policy and seek collaboration on development of the agriculture sector especially in third world countries. “Let me assure our donors and all partners that President Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika is committed to work with our development partners in the agricultural sector to improve the lives of people of Malawi,” said the Minister who also doubles as Government Leader of Business in Parliament. Nankhumwa praised President Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika for his economic prudence measures and financial probity that has helped the country to win more donors to help Malawi to move out of poverty. The Minister is currently attending the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture in Berlin Germany running from 16th to 18th January 2020 under the theme Food For All
