Eidi Mubarak is an Arabic term that means “Blessed Feast/festival”. The term is used by Arab Muslims, as well as Muslims all over the world. Internationally Muslims use it as a greeting for use on the festivals of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr. Eid means “Celebration”, and Mubarak (derived from the Semitic root B-R-K) means “Blessed”. In the social sense, people usually celebrate Eid al-Fitr after Ramadan and Eid-al-Adha in the month of Dhul Hijjah (the 12th and final Islamic month). Some state that this exchange of greetings is a cultural tradition and not part of any religion.Earlier today,Right Honorable Atupele Austin Muluzi spent his morning hours in an attitude of prayer with his fellow Muslim Brothers and Sisters to celebrate the holy festival.Muluzi is a devotee of Islamic teachings. At the auspicious occasion,he sent his heartfelt message to the nation,”Eid Mubarak! !May Allah (Swt) bless Malawi. May there be peace, love, mutual respect and tolerance. Let there be respect, love among all religions and tribes as one United Malawi. May we all realize the Malawi Dream of a better Malawi for all. Ameen.”Muluzi is expected later this afternoon to meet and greet other Muslim brothers and sisters for lunch.Stay tuned,as we bring more updates.
