LABC donates medical items to Association of Midwives:Ministry of Health applauds the group.

On 5th May 2020.The Lilongwe Asian Business Community donated various items to the association of Midwives,targeting three rural health centers;Kabudula,Mitundu and Chileka.Proof of donationThe auspicious event took place at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.Items donated were:-1,500 brochures in Chichewa-360 A2 posters in Chichewa-1,000 Disposable Aprons-600 facemasks-2,000 examination gloves-24 Hand sanitizers bottles(250ml)- 30 sets of PPEsMrs Felicitas Kanthiti received the items on behalf of the association.Labc was represented by a team of volunteers led by Mr Shabbir Bheda.”Midwives play a great role in our country’s health system,as they assist numerous expectant mothers on daily basis and it is critical to effectively motivate them by providing them with protective equipments and medical essentials to facilitate their smooth working environment.” Bheda said.Mrs Kanthiti speaking on behalf of all midwives and the rural health centers who will benefit from this generous donation,”We are truly grateful for this help as it has come at a time,we are battling with the spread and infections of Covid-19,few weeks ago,some of our colleagues were on a sit-in strike crying out for help for specific items as the same before us,this will boost their morale and help them to protect themselves and their patients at respective health centers,we thank you Labc for everything you are doing for the health care industry countrywide.”Mr Joshua Malango Spokesperson for Ministry of health added few words;”As a ministry we appreciate the kind gesture the Asian Business community has done. We value their continuous support towards the health sector amidst this pandemic that has affected the whole world.”The items will be distributed among the aforementioned rural health centres.Malawi is still registering cases of Covid-19 and it is important to help our medical professionals countrywide with the appropriate and required preventative and protective items in order for them to do their work efficiently without any a fear or danger of contracting the virus.
