HerLiberty Organization based in Lilongwe area 47 has launched SheDecide campaign at Likongwe Golf Club during its AGM.
HerLiberty in partnership with Girls Activist Youth Organization based in Mchinji through it’s Support has also launched the project in Mchinji District in Traditional Authority Zulu. SheDecides is a global movement driving change; fuelled by actions in communities; with Young people at its heart.
In an interview with our Current Affairs reporter, Director of Girls Activist Youth Organization a Mchinji based organization Richard Batch said, the two organizations are united in the belief of the fundamental rights of every girl, and every woman to make the decisions only she makes and fighting for every right; without shying away from Safe abortion; comprehensive sexuality education; or other issues that are often avoided and neglected.
“We are working together to take action so that girls and women everywhere can access the information and education to make their own choice; to enjoy their bodies; to have access to the full range of quality care that unite all parts of her sexual and reproductive life and health”, explained Batch
According to him, She decides movement disrupts the power imbalances that for too long have stopped girls and women from deciding and having been energized by evidence-based outrage; the two organizations have become a conspirancy of hope.
“As an organization our role is making sensitization of she Decides campaign and conduct advocacy campign with key stakeholder and policy makers be it VDC; ADC and at District level so that what ever policy and development they make they should consider girls and involve them. At the same time, we are implementing a Youth engagement on adoscent Girls which is also supporting and complementing SheDecide campaign so that all health centres in Mchinji District should have Youth friendly centre where adolescent girls can go and access family planning services and all services offered under youth friendly” says Batch
The Youth engagement on adolescent health program is also funded by HeRLiberty and sub-granted to Girls Activist Youth Organization.
