Generational Leadership Initiative Balaka Hub has donated 8 waste dust bins and 30 blooms for Balaka District market during a sweeping campaign today organized by the District Council.

Chairperson Ania Chinkhokwe for Generational Leadership Initiative Balaka Hub told Current Affairs Malawi that each time there is a cleaning exercise people just buy blooms which is temporary as trash is seen and experienced few days later.

“Balaka has had no single dust bin for a long time. As a Hub we decided to come together to contribute money to acquire these dust bins to lessen pressure on the Council, while at the same time making sure our town looks tidy and exquisite.

Today we were excited to participate and happy as well that we did not ask for money from any Non governmental organization as this was solely purchased using our own contributions since we believe that as young people it’s possible to make a difference and that we are change makers”.

“Balaka is a small district in the Southern region without proper hygiene thus we had to come up with this idea”, he added

Generational Leadership Initiative GLi is a youth organization for all young Malawians with Hubs across all the districts in malawi from Chitipa to Nsanje sharing same goal and is headquartered in Capital City Lilongwe.
